What is my PIN number? Your PIN number is the last four digits of your phone number, unless you requested a different number when you registered for a library card.

What is my borrower ID number? This is the 14 digit number on the back of your library card. Always enter this number without spaces.

How do I get a library card? Register for a library card in the town where you live. Bring an ID and proof of address when you register.

I lost my library card. Can I get a new one? Stop by the Circulation Desk to get a replacement library card for $1.00.

Can I use a computer in the Library? Yes! The Library has public computers with Internet access. You do not need a library card to use a computer – check with Information Services staff for assistance.

Does the Library have wireless Internet access? Yes! The Library provides free open wireless Internet access throughout most of the building.

What museum passes do you have? How do I reserve one? The Library has a number of passes that offer free or reduced admission. You can reserve a pass online or by phone.

How do I request a book? You can request a book by calling the Information Services Desk at 978-465-4428 x226, or online using the MVLC catalog and your library account.

I requested a book – is it here yet? You will be notified of the arrival of your requested item by phone or email. Sign up for email notification

How many items can I check out? You may check out a total of 12 adult and 12 children’s items at a time. Check out limits include: 12 books or magazines, 6 audio books, 4 adult videos, 3 children’s videos, 3 music CDs, 2 Books to Go, 2 Playaways and 2 language learning audio items per check out.

I couldn’t find a book when I looked in the Library catalog – do you have it? Call the Information Services Desk at 978-465-4428 x226 to have a staff person locate the book for you. You can also sign up for a tutorial on how to use the online library catalog.

I found a book in the catalog, how can I know where to find it? The location of the book will be listed below the title and book information. The Call Number (where the item is located in the library) and Status (checked in or checked out) are also listed. –No location listed? That item is not available in the Library in which you are searching. Select “other locations” to see where the book is located.

Can I renew books? Most library materials can be renewed online as long as they are not overdue or requested by another patron. Items can also be renewed by calling the Circulation Desk at 978-465-4428 x236 or the Children’s Desk at x235 for children’s items.

Do you have study rooms? How can I reserve one? Two small study rooms are located on the third floor and can be reserved once a day for a three hour time period. These rooms can be reserved up to one week in advance by calling the Technology Center at 978-465-4428 x237

Can I use my cell phone in the Library? You may talk on your cell phone in the lobby vestibule, or near the pay phone on the first floor. Thank you for using these designated areas only for cell phone use.

Do you have a public fax machine? No, but there are a number of local businesses with a public fax machine nearby– ask staff for a list.

Can I have food and beverages in the Library? We ask that you enjoy food and drinks before you enter the Library.

Does the Library take book donations? The Friends of the Library take book donations twice a year to coincide with their Great Old Book Sale. Check the Library Event Calendar for dates.
