R.A.D. Training
November 4 | 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm
The Newburyport Public Library is pleased to offer the following program to the women of the community. Taught by instructors of the Newburyport Police Department R.A.D. (Rape Agression Defense) Training will instruct women in self defense that's easy to learn, easy to remember and relatively easy to employ during confrontational situations. This is a series of classes that will begin November 4th and will meet the following three Thursdays in November 11/6, 11/13, 11/20. This program is sponsored in part by the Friends of the Library. There is a $15 suggested donation for materials and training. Space is limited. Sign-ups begin October 14th. Call Rebecca at (978) 465-4428 ext 226 for more information. All R.A.D. Trainings will be held in the Program Room on the first floor of the Library.
Library Food Drive
November 1 – November 30
The Library is once again partnering with Community Service of Newburyport, Inc. to collect food items to help stock their food pantry. Community Service is a non-profit agency that provides food, clothing, and emergency assistance to those in need in the Newburyport area. Please join us by bringing in non-perishable canned and boxed food items (be sure to check the expiration date on all items) during the month of November. Collection boxes are located in the Library lobby and Children's Room at 94 State Street, and at the Emma Andrews Branch Library at 77 Purchase Street.
