Learning Express Library provides interactive practice exams and test preparation resources, as well as educational skill-building and career-building tools. The site features online practice tests that are true previews of official exams, instant scoring and individual analysis to help you improve and understand your test scores, and explanations of both right and wrong answers to promote understanding and retention. If you are a first time visitor, you can use, for example, your Newburyport library card number (without spaces) as your username, and create your own password. You will have to remember these account details, as there is no way to retrieve this information from the Learning Express company. Returning users click on the “Returning User” button, and input their username and password.

 IRS Federal and Commonwealth of Massachusetts TAX FORMS are in. The IRS provides libraries with most common Federal tax forms and publications - some uncommon forms can be photocopied from a book provided by the IRS. The Commonwealth no longer issues a book of reproducible forms, but uncommon forms can be obtained online. Telephone help is available from the Andover IRS office at 978 474-5200, and IRS Telephone Assistance 1 800 829-1040. The library staff is not trained to provide tax help.

 

Call 978 465-4428 x226 to schedule one-hour lessons with the Reference Librarians. Lessons include Basic Internet, Introduction to the Online Catalog, and E-mail.

                   

Information Services

Information Services provides standard library reference materials, telephone books, microfilm/microfiche reader printers, a photocopy machine, Internet-connected computers, and computers for word processing.

We offer patrons free basic computer training on Internet use or database searching. To inquire or to sign up for a one-hour, one-on-one session, please call  or e-mail us.

The primary service role of the Newburyport Public Library is to provide current, high-demand, high-interest materials in a variety of formats for persons of all ages in the Newburyport area. Special emphasis is placed on providing timely, accurate and useful information in pursuit of the library user's research-related, school-related, or personal interests; and on stimulating young children's interests and appreciation for reading and learning. It is a goal of the library that clientele be provided with accurate and timely reference assistance and that all information requests be answered promptly, accurately, efficiently and courteously. Information service  at the Newburyport Public Library focuses on the use of a non-circulating reference collection, containing such standard reference tools as dictionaries, encyclopedias, handbooks, almanacs, directories, bibliographies and indexes.
