Hilarious beach read...
Even if you don’t catch all the pop culture references, (hint: the title is a lyric that’s followed by “here we are now, entertain us…”) tuck this into your beach bag for a fun read, reminiscent of Nick Hornby’s “High Fidelity”. The story opens with Heaven lamenting about her husband’s affair and how she’s going to deal with it, even though she’s not married, not engaged, and not even dating anyone. She’s just been fired from her executive position, and she’s failing miserably as a waitress. Brady moves in next door, and randomly shouts late night just to see what his voice sounds like in different rooms in his apartment. He’s got a million dollar idea for a product (“cinnamilk”, cinnamon flavored milk) if only the founder of Starbucks would return his calls. The characters are tremendously wacky and couldn’t annoy each other more—usually clues that the characters will end up together, though this is not your typical chick-lit. In one word, hilarious.
