A magical tale of hope and friendship...
Newbery Medal and Horn Book winning author, Kate DiCamillo, has written a magical tale of hope and friendship titled The Magician's Elephant. It is the tale of a ten year old orphaned boy named Peter, who lives a very sad existence in Paris. He has always believed he was not only an orphan but that his baby sister died at birth. Strange occurrences have led him to believe otherwise. At the same time that Peter tries desperately to discover more about his past, an elephant has come to town and is living in the home of a very wealthy woman. When Peter is told by a fortune teller that an elephant will lead him to his sister, he is more perplexed until he finds out that an elephant has actually arrived in town! Peter is determined to see this elephant. The story that enfolds is not only tender and sweet but written so beautifully that I was so sad to have it come to an end.
