What is my PIN number? Your PIN is the last 4 digits of your phone number. You can change your PIN online or reset with librarian assistance.

What is my borrower ID number? This is the 14-digit number on the back of your library card. Always enter this number without spaces.

How do I get a library card? Register for a library card in the town where you live. Bring a photo ID and proof of address when you register.

I lost my library card. Can I get a new one? Get replacement cards for $1.00 at the Circulation Desk.

Can I use a computer in the Library? Yes. Call the Information Desk for details: 978 465-4428 x242

Does the Library have wireless Internet access? Yes! The Library provides free open wireless Internet access throughout most of the building.

What museum passes do you have? How do I reserve one? The Library has a number of passes that offer free or reduced admission. You can reserve a pass online or by phone.

How do I request a book? You can request a book by calling the Information Desk at (978)-465-4428 x242, or online using the MVLC catalog and your library account.

How many items can I check out? You may check out a total of 20 adult and 20 children’s items at a time. Check out limits include: 20 books, 10 magazines, 10 audio books, 10 adult videos, 10 music CDs, 2 Books to Go, 2 Hot DVDs, 2 Playaways and 2 language learning audio items per check out.

I couldn’t find a book when I looked in the Library catalog – do you have it? Call the Information Services Desk at 978-465-4428 x226 to have a staff person locate the book for you. You can also sign up for a tutorial on how to use the online library catalog.

I found a book in the catalog, how can I know where to find it? Click on the book title and scroll down to “Available”. The name of the library with the available book will be listed under “Library.” The “Call Number” (where the item is located in the Collection) and “Location” (Collection Location in the Library or Due Date if the item is Checked Out) are also listed. If that item is not available in the library in which you are searching, select “click here” to search all of the MVLC libraries.

Can I renew books? Most library materials will be renewed automatically as long as they are not overdue or requested by another patron. Some items, such as museum passes and non-traditional materials, may not be renewable. Contact the Circulation Desk with questions: (978) 465-4428 x236

Do you have study rooms? How can I reserve one? Study rooms are currently unavailable. Please check back for updates.

Can I use my cell phone in the Library? Cell phones are permitted in the lobby vestibule, or near the pay phone on the first floor only.

Can I have food and beverages in the Library? Food and drink are currently prohibited in the library due to public.

Does the Library take book donations? Donations are not currently being accepted due to public health concerns. Check back for the Friends of the Library Great Old Book Sale upcoming dates.

Do you have a Notary Public? No. There is a Notary Public available at City Hall in the City Clerk's Office.

Do you have a public fax machine? Toll-free and continental U.S. destination outgoing fax services are supported by the library on an as-available basis. Call Information Services for details.
