Event Winter Raptors: Eagles, Hawks, Owls, and Falcons

October 2, 2018 | 7:00 pm – 8:15 pm

Join us for an informative evening with birding expert Bill Gette and prepare for some winter bird watching!

Did you know that we almost lost our National Symbol, the Bald Eagle? Did you know that the fierce Peregrine Falcon is more closely related to a Black-capped Chickadee than it is to a Red-tailed Hawk? Did you know that female owls, eagles, and hawks are bigger than their male counterparts?

During his PowerPoint presentation, Bill will discuss these facts and review the many aids to field identification for this amazing group of birds, their ranges and dates of occurrence in New England, food preferences, and hunting techniques.

Since 1986, Bill Gette, former sanctuary director of Mass Audubon’s Joppa Flats Education Center in Newburyport, has been leading natural history field trips throughout New England and the World.
