Archival Center

The Archival Center is dedicated to supporting the library’s mission to be a community hub that inspires and empowers all to access knowledge, culture and social connections. 

The Archival Center collection focuses on genealogy and local history with emphasis on Newburyport and the Greater Newburyport area, and municipal records pertaining to the City of Newburyport. It includes published monographs on Newburyport history and individual family genealogies as well as local primary source material in the form of newspapers, photographs, diaries, postcards and other ephemera.

Research visits are by appointment where a librarian will be on hand to assist in pulling any materials needed. Our Online Resources are available at any time.

The Library will open at 1 PM on Thurs, Oct 10 due to staff development training....The Library will be closed Sat, Oct 12 - Mon, Oct 14 in honor of Indigenous Peoples' Day.
