Join us for an afternoon of poetry with the Powow River Poets! Readings are free, accessible, and open to the public. The poets reading this month are Paulette Demers Turco and Bruce Bennett. Come early to sign up for open mic!

Bruce Bennett is the author of ten full-length collections of poetry and more than thirty poetry chapbooks. His most recent book is Just Another Day in Just Our Town: Poems New and Selected, 2000-2016 (Orchises Press, 2017). His first book, New and Selected, Navigating The Distances, also from Orchises, was chosen by Booklist as “One Of The Top Ten Poetry Books Of 1999.” He was a co-founder and served as an editor of the literary journals Field and Ploughshares, and has reviewed poetry in The New York Times Book Review, The Nation, and elsewhere. From 1973 until his retirement in 2014, he taught Literature and Creative Writing and directed the Visiting Writers Series at Wells College, and is now Emeritus Professor of English. In 2012 he was awarded a Pushcart Prize. His poetry website is https://justanotherdayinjustourtown.com.

Paulette Demers Turco, a Powow River Poet, is editor of The Powow River Poets Anthology II (Able Muse Press, 2021) and co-organizer of Powow poetry readings. Her poetry also appears or is forthcoming in The Lyric, The Poetry Porch, Quill & Parchment, Loch Raven Review, Mezzo Cammin, 2020 Hippocrates Award Anthology, and others. Her chapbook In Silence was published by Finishing Line Press, 2018. Awards include the Robert Frost Poetry Award; 1st place, Rockport 2019 Ekphrastic Poetry Contest; and MFA in Writing President's Award from Lesley University, Cambridge, MA, where she earned her MFA.

The Powow River Poets, based in Newburyport, Massachusetts, are active promoters of poetry in New England.
