Get involved with the library by becoming a Friend! The Newburyport Friends of the Library is a dedicated group of volunteer members who care deeply for the mission and well-being of the Newburyport Public Library. Through a variety of volunteer activities, they promote awareness of and encourage public support for the Library. FOL members are library users, library lovers, and library supporters. The Friends are also on Facebook.
Volunteers are an important part of the Newburyport Public Library. The Library Volunteer Program welcomes adults and young adults to contribute to our vibrant institution. Volunteers are required to complete an application form, submit to a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) check through the Massachusetts CHSB, and participate in an orientation and training session prior to beginning the Volunteer Program.
The Volunteer Application form is available as a PDF document that can be printed, completed, and returned to the Library. Volunteer Application forms are also available in the Library at the Circulation Desk.
For more information about volunteering contact the Volunteer Program Coordinator at 978–465–4428 x224.
Add your voice to the Newburyport Library collection of community projects!
With the COVID-19 crisis dominating much of 2020, the Newburyport public Library wants your contributions. Share your COVID-19 story for our Archival collection, or contribute to our ‘Pandemic Pantry’ community cookbook project.
A donation to the Newburyport Public Library helps to support our efforts to meet the informational, educational and recreational needs of the community through open and equal access to cultural, intellectual, recreational, and information resources and programs. Private support allows the Library to achieve what public funding cannot.
Monetary gifts can be made by check to “The Friends of the Newburyport Public Library.” Besides a general donation, you can contribute your gift to a specific fund or for a chosen purpose. You can also choose to donate funds to purchase a book or other library materials, or to establish a book fund in honor of an individual or special occasion, or in memory of a loved one. Gift books have a special book plate which gives the name of the person or occasion that is being honored.
Gifts by bequest create a lasting legacy for generations of library users. Over the years, many Library patrons and supporters have remembered the Newburyport Public Library as they prepare or revise their wills. Contact the Head Librarian for more information.
Local corporations and businesses have generously supported the Library in a multitude of ways. For more information regarding donations to the Library, please call 978-465-4428. However you choose to designate your donation and for whatever amount you give, we appreciate your support. Thank you!
